Abstract

This patent describes a method for positioning ground targets in a video monitoring system. The method uses ground-plane constraints to divide a monitoring network into sub-networks, establishes local ground coordinate systems, and estimates ground coordinates from observed target image positions through camera-to-ground projection relationships.
